Calendula Orange King Flower Mammoth fully double bright orange flowers with straight stems reaching 15. Sometimes referred to as POT MARIGOLD due to its ease at adapting in being grown within a pot. This is an Annual that acts like a perennial; because it reseeds itself, germinating each spring without any care.
Cultivation Advice
- Start seed indoors in late winter to early spring for an earlier planting, or sow seeds directly into the garden after danger of frost has passed.
- Sow seeds in Mild Winter areas during late summer through early Fall for flowering the following Spring and again, possibly repeating Autumn cycle.
- Sprinkle 1/8 to a 1/4 inch fine soil over the seeds.
- Moisten soil lightly while the seeds germinate.
- Thin to 8-10″ apart when seedlings are 2 inches tall.
- Transplant thinned plants.
- Pinch off any dead flowers to encourage continued blooming.
- Grow most reliably in full sun or part shade.
- Easy to grow. Calendulas are not picky about soil requirements.
- Goatsbeard CareLeave last flowers of the year and they will easily self seed for next season.
