HPP RADISH – FRENCH BREAKFAST, distinguished by their elongated shape and striking red-and-white coloring, are a delightful addition to any garden. These radishes, renowned for their mild, crisp flavor, mature relatively quickly, typically in 3-4 weeks. Planted in early spring or late summer, they thrive in well-draining soil and partial to full sun exposure. Perfect for fresh salads or as a crunchy, zesty snack, French Breakfast radishes bring a pop of color and a subtle peppery taste to various culinary creations. This seed is supplied in premium pictorial packets direct from Italy.

Cultivation Advice

  • Plant French Breakfast radish seeds in early spring or late summer for a fall harvest. They prefer cool weather for optimal growth.
  • Select a planting location with well-draining soil and partial to full sun exposure.
  • Ensure the soil is free of rocks and debris. Amend it with organic matter, like compost, to enhance fertility and drainage.
  • French Breakfast radishes prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH around 6.0 to 7.0.
  • Sow seeds directly into the prepared soil, about ½ inch deep and spaced 1-2 inches apart in rows. Ensure the rows are approximately 12-18 inches apart.
  • Maintain soil moisture for successful germination.
  • French Breakfast radishes thrive in full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Ensure they receive at least 6 hours of sunlight daily.
  • Water consistently to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Adequate moisture is crucial for proper root development.
  • Once the radish seedlings appear, thin them to about 2-3 inches apart to allow sufficient space for root growth. Crowding can lead to smaller radishes.
  • Radishes generally don’t require heavy feeding. If the soil lacks nutrients, a balanced fertilizer can be applied at planting time.
  • Mulch around the radish plants to retain soil moisture and suppress weed growth. Regularly remove weeds to prevent competition for nutrients.
  • French Breakfast radishes mature in about 3-4 weeks. Harvest them when they reach about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.
  • Gently pull the radishes from the soil. Avoid leaving them in the ground too long, as they might become pithy or overly spicy.
  • These radishes are excellent eaten fresh, offering a crisp texture and mild taste. They are ideal for salads, garnishes, or served with dips.
