DWARF BEAN YIN YANG ( SHELLING BEAN ) A Dwarf french style Bean with a difference, producing mature beans when dried that have a remarkable black and white colour pattern which gives them the appearance of a three-dimensional representation of the well-known Yin Yang symbol of Chinese astrology. The young pods can also be harvested and used as a fresh green bean. The plants are compact (45cm) and extremely productive. The beans dried have a smooth smoothly texture with a good mild flavour and are great for baked dishes and stews.

• Time to harvest: 8-12 weeks (fresh pods)
• Germination time: 7-14 days
• Planting Depth: 2 inch
• Spacing, Row: 18 inches
• Spacing, Seeds: 4-6 inches
• Light: Sunny Location
• For an early crop sow in warmth in mid spring 6 weeks before the last expected frost in your area.
• Sow seeds individually in 7.5cm (3in) pots at 18-21C (65-70F).
• Otherwise sow outdoors 4-6 in between seeds when the soil has warmed during late spring after all danger of frost as they are sensitive to low soil temperatures.
• Keep weed free and protect from pests whilst young.
• Plants do not require support.
• Harvest for fresh use when pods are young, the plants should continue to flower if picked steadily.
• For dried seeds to store, leave the pods to fully mature and dry before shelling and storing.
