Broccoli Purple Early Sprouting A realy, really great hardy winter vegetable to get started with that produces when practically nothing else is growing in the garden. Robust plants 12-18 in high. with masses of medium purple heads & tender young leaves (green when cooked) late winter/early spring These should plant into mid-April, clearing the soil for early spring planting. Direct sow: yes (from garden or trays) Sow seeds 1/8 inch fine soil.
During germination keep soilaveragely wet. Here is a video of mine sowing some Broccoli way back in Spring time (yes you can sow them through to about mid summer for over-wintering).
Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart in rows; or stagger plantings as a border along any room available.
When seedlings are 2 inches (5 cm) tall; thin or transplant.
