Cultivation Advice 

• Autumn sown seed – flowers July to November AFTER SOWING:Carnations:Approx 20-22 weeks from radicle emergence (sowing) to anthesis.

  Dec-Mar (sow seeds 2mm or plants are light sensitive, require 12 hrs/day therefore they need transferring to artificial lights after sowing) rows.

  Sow seed on the surface and gently press well onto a fine grade compost. Do not cover because the seed needs light to germinate.

  This tray / pot cover with a clear plastic bag or glass plate to maintain humidity.

  Water from bottom through soaking tray.

  The seeds will need at least 25C to germinate, so a heated mat or propagator is needed.

  Germination 14-60 days when provided with a fluctuating temperature.

  Prick out into 3 inch pots when large enough to handle and grow on in cooler conditions.

  Transplant to container / beds: 9-12 inches apart after all last frost.
