Cultivation Advice For Beetroot Bulls Blood Red

  • Direct sow Beetroot Bulls Blood Red seed into finely prepared soil between mid April and late June once the air temperature has at least picked up some heat, no danger of frost.

Choose a sunny location with good drainage. Before planting, you must throw out the debris and stones of earth as well as weeds.

Improve the fertility and structure of your soil by adding organic matter like garden compost or well-rotted manure before you sow.

Sow seeds thinly in rows of approximately 30cm apart to a depth of about 2.5 cm

Thin to 7-10cm apart after germination for good space. Thinning helps avoid crowded rots so the beet plants can grow well.

Keep soil evenly moist throughout growth. Water plants regularly, especially in times of drought to promote good growth.

Water at the base of plants; moist foliage can lead to leaf diseases.

Mix a balanced fertilizer into the soil before planting. Feed plants, especially when they begin to grow by providing a feed that is higher in potassium for root development.

Watch your use of nitrogen-rich fertilizers so you do not put on too much foliage at the expense of root growth.

Weed around the beetroots so that they do not have to fight for nutrients.

Spread an organic mulch, such as straw or compost, around plants to help keep soil moist and reduce weed growth.

Check plants often for signs of common pests, including aphids (greenfly), slugs and beetroot flies. Biological or mechanical barriers: Biological control Cultivation of resistant varieties Or another method recommended for a particular pathogen.

Leave enough space between plants to maintain good airflow and reduce the risk of fungi.
