Aquilegia Caerulea Columbine Seeds -An incredibly large upright variety standing above deeply cut light green foliage opens soft white petals and unusually showy spurs in a stunning powder blue. Coerule is derived from the Latin word meaning blue. This is the easiest and most rewarding of all to Perennials, which flowers from late spring through early summer. Store the seed packet in a normal fridge to maximise life if not sown straight away
Seeds are best when cold-treated (stratified) before planting to improve germination. Pop the unopened packet in your fridge salad drawer for a week or two.
From February until June, sow seed in a tray of finely sieved free draining compost and lightly cover with either another dusting of vermiculite or simply more fine horticultural sand.
