Cultivation advice for Borage Seedlings – PICTORIAL PACKET

• When, in the UKIn most cases borage seeds can be sown from early spring to early summer once there is no danger of frost directly where they are destined to grow.

  Find a place with full sun and well-drained soil. Best suited for a well-draining soil, however adaptable to nearly all types.

  Pull the weeds and debris from the ground. Borage is not fussy about soil fertility but will produce the best growth in well-draining, slightly alkaline soils with good aeration.

  If necessary, add organic material such as compost to enrich the soil structure and quality.

  To sow borage just plant seeds about 1cm deep in rows or scatter over the bed area.

  Direct sow seeds or seedlings 30-45cm apart, to have enough space for growth.

  Soil to be kept consistently moist, especially during the germination of plants. Once established, Borage is fairly drought-resistant.

  Pour those from the base to keep off fungi and irrigate during morning hours so that extra water dries out throughout the day.

  BORAGE SEEDLINGS — PICTORIAL PACKET will require minimal fertilization. If the soil is poor you can apply a balanced fertilizer before planting, or broadcast compost in-season at any time.
